Description

The Greystone PurePod is set high above the award-winning Greystone vineyard, less than an hour north of Christchurch, right in the heart of the Waipara Valley wine producing region.

With the Teviotdale Hills behind and views up the Waipara Valley across to the Southern Alps, the Greystone PurePod provides a beautiful setting for you to immerse yourself in your own private slice of the New Zealand landscape.

Your journey to the Greystone PurePod starts as soon as you turn into the Greystone vineyard, and pass by the Cellar Door.

The unpaved road winds its way through the vineyard up to the PurePod car parking area – you may even see an occasional flock of sheep in the paddocks between the vines.

Native Bush walk to your PurePod

From the carpark, you will cross the fence over a stile and follow the walking track as it winds its way through some regenerating native bush. Keep an eye out for cabbage trees (also known as ti kouka) which are one of the most distinctive trees in the New Zealand landscape. They grow 12-20 metres high, usually have long trunks, with thick and tough cork-like bark. The leaves are long and narrow and are up to 1 metre long. The cabbage tree has lovely scented flowers in early summer, which turn into blue-whitish berries that birds love to eat.

As the track winds its way out of the bush, and makes it way to the Greystone PurePod. Please note, if you have mobility issues please let us know so we can provide an alternative route for you.

Greystone PurePod secluded setting

The Greystone PurePod sits on a spur in a paddock, high above the winery. While you are tucked away in your own private oasis, you have vast views down onto the winery and up the Waipara Valley. Depending on the time of the year, while relaxing on the PurePod deck, you may be able to glimpse workers in the far distance beavering away in the vines removing shoots, managing the foilage wires, picking grapes or pruning.

Things to do

If you are feeling a little more active, then take advantage of the walking and cycling trails that pass through the Greystone winery and onto and through a number of other wineries and historic farms. Of course, if such exploration is not quite what you desire, feel free to stretch out on the deck or in the shade nearby and enjoy a complete absence of people and traffic.

PurePods luxurious facilities

The PurePod has all the facilities you require including a fabulous shower, flush toilet, crisp linen, cooking and eating equipment including a gas hob and barbeque, tea coffee and milk; as well as an assortment of games, local reference books, a telescope and a whole lot of nothing to do! So sit back, relax in the luxury camp chairs out on the deck, or laze about in the super comfortable bed and watch nature put on a show.

Dinner & Breakfast Package

You can either bring your own supplies, or preorder a hamper when you make your reservation.

The hamper is made from the best available fresh local seasonal ingredients and includes a tasting platter for a starter. The main dish can range from beef, lamb, venison and fish (ready for you to cook yourself on either the cooktop or the barbeque), with seasonal vegetables or salad. To finish your evening meal, there is a sweet treat or seasonal fruit. Breakfast is delicious homemade muesli with locally made organic yoghurt and a fruit compote.

If you have a specific dietary requirement please let us know and we will adjust the menu accordingly.

While you can walk back out to stock up on supplies, you’ll find that the desire to stay put and relax is overwhelming. So please ensure you have enough food and drink to totally indulge in the isolation. Perhaps, pick up a bottle or two from the Greystones Cellar Door on your way up to the PurePod.

To include the Dinner & Breakfast Package on your booking, select this option at time of booking your PurePod stay (or let us know after you’ve made your booking and we can add this to your existing booking).

Check in & out

Check in is from 3pm (but please make sure you arrive in plenty of time to walk to the PurePod before dark). Check out is by 12pm on the day of departure. Once you have confirmed your booking, you will receive instructions on how to find your secret slice of paradise.

Surprised at the view, saw more than expected . The pod was very welcoming. Glass for was unusual. Place was immaculate. Lovely welcome note & dinner/breakfast menu appreciated . The pod was lovely & warm and the night sky spectacular especially when lying in bed. We had a wonderful time here and are keen to try the other pods. Would be helpful to know what to do with the dirty dishes. Thank you!!

The PurePod was such an oasis of good food, amazing scenery, and good wine. We have traveled all over the world and slept in so many interesting places, but none as unique as this! We loved that our entertainment was watching the clouds roll in and waiting for the stars to peek out. Spectacular!
